10 years of taste manufacture

For thousands of years, spices were as valuable as gold. Only well-heeled citizens could afford the flavors of distant countries that came to Europe with traveling spice traders from all over the world. Over the past centuries, spices became cheaper and their importance faded; Delicious food from shared cooking adventures lost value…until 2013! With the founding of Ankerkraut Anne and Stefan Lemcke have made it their mission to restore the appreciation for spices that they once had - and that they still deserve today.

For the love of the best taste

We are convinced that the best taste only comes about when all details are perfectly coordinated.

Handpicked ingredients

The outstanding quality of our raw materials is our top priority. In our Ankerkraut Only the ingredients that naturally taste good come into the glass - and we make no compromises. We stand for spices without Additives, pouring aids, flavor enhancers or other bells and whistles. To ensure the quality of our raw materials, we rely on long-term partnerships with our suppliers. We choose these very carefully. Our motto also counts here: attention to detail.

Delicious compositions

Each spice recipe is developed by our taste professionals with a passion for good food, a lot of love and expertise. Our claim? The spices are intended to make every dish a very special taste experience!
Every spice idea is tested in our in-house panel. The testers are our employees who put the spices through their paces outside of the test kitchen: with conviviality, fun and the joy of enjoyment. Only spices that are perfectly rounded make it into our range.

Filled with love

All of our spices are produced by us in Hamburg, the spice capital of Europe. In order to ensure consistent quality and to accommodate growth, the majority of the spices are filled by machine. However, there are also some raw materials and spices that require hand bottling, including some teas, bay leaves and nutmeg - and this will remain the case in the future!
